Term Life Insurance in Allen, Sized to the Years That Matter
Term life pays your family a fixed sum if you pass away while they still lean on your income. We work out the amount from your real numbers and pick a term length that fits. The same agent then stays with you until the policy is in your hands.

What Term Life Covers and When It Fits
Term life pays a set amount to your beneficiary if you die during the term, typically 10, 20 or 30 years. There is no cash value and no investment component, so the premium is much lower than permanent coverage of the same size. For people with young kids, a mortgage or a business partner counting on them, it is often the first policy to put in place.
Our team is small. The agent who answers your first call works out your coverage, guides you through the application and reviews the finished policy with you. You are not handed off at each step, and you never have to explain your situation twice.
If you want lifelong coverage or a policy that builds value, see our whole life insurance and universal life insurance pages. When the need ends on a known date, term is usually the simpler fit.
What We Handle on a Term Policy
- Coverage built from your numbers
- We add up the income your family would need to replace, your mortgage balance, other debts, childcare and any college goals. Your coverage figure is built from that total rather than picked because it sounds about right.
- A term length matched to your obligations
- A 20-year term might line up with a new mortgage. A 30-year term might carry a newborn through college. Layering two policies, say a 30-year and a 15-year, can come in cheaper than a single large one, so we price it both ways side by side.
- Riders reviewed one by one
- We explain conversion rights, waiver of premium, child riders and accelerated benefits for terminal illness. You choose only the ones that earn their cost.
- Beneficiaries set up correctly
- We help you name primary and contingent beneficiaries. We also flag the problem of leaving money directly to minor children, who cannot receive it outright.
- A final read of the policy
- When the policy arrives, we check the names, the amount, the term, the rate class and the riders against what you applied for.
Signs It Is Time for Term Coverage
A child has joined the family
Children are one of the longest stretches of financial dependence. Coverage set up now can run until they are grown.
You took on a mortgage or a large loan
If your income makes the payments, a term policy can keep them covered for the life of the loan. For coverage tied directly to the loan, see our mortgage protection insurance page.
Your only coverage comes through work
Group life at work is often limited to one or two times salary, and it usually ends when you change jobs. A personal policy stays with you.
Your current term is close to ending
After the level period, many policies renew at premiums that climb every year. Replacing or converting before that happens is usually easier while you are still insurable.
Someone in your business depends on you
Partners with a buy-sell agreement or a key role in the company often use term life to fund it.
From First Call to a Policy in Hand
- 1
An unhurried phone conversation
You tell us about your income, debts, family and goals. From there we suggest coverage amounts and term lengths that suit your situation. Nothing commits you to going further.
- 2
The application
You answer health and lifestyle questions. The carrier checks prescription history and records. Many policies call for a short paramedical exam at a time and place you choose, and some smaller policies skip the exam.
- 3
Underwriting
The carrier reviews everything and assigns a rate class. We follow up with them, tell you when they ask for more, and explain any change from the original quote before you accept it.
- 4
Delivery and review
We go through the policy line by line with you. The carrier also gives you a short window after delivery to hand the policy back and get your premium returned if it does not suit you.

What Moves the Price of Term Life
A term premium is fixed when the policy is issued and stays the same for the whole term. The rate depends on two things: your situation when you apply and how much coverage you choose. We go over each factor before you apply so the price does not surprise you later.
- Your age when you apply
- Rates go up with every birthday, so locking in coverage sooner costs less for the same amount.
- Health and nicotine
- Your blood pressure, cholesterol, weight, medical history and nicotine use set your rate class. Tobacco users pay a good deal more.
- Coverage amount and term length
- Both a larger amount and a longer term increase the premium. Because the price does not rise evenly, we price several combinations with you before you pick one.
- Added riders
- Every rider raises the premium. Some, such as conversion rights, are often included already, while others are optional.
- Your job and hobbies
- Dangerous work, flying private planes and similar activities can change your rate. We ask about these early so they do not come up at the last minute.
Common Questions About Term Life
Something not covered here? (972) 635-8229
What happens at the end of the term?
Once the level period runs out, you have three paths: renew, convert or replace the policy. Renewal is usually allowed, but the premium tends to climb every year after that point. Many clients plan it so the policy winds down around the time the mortgage is paid off and the kids are through school.
Is there a way to switch to permanent coverage down the road?
Many term policies include a conversion option. It lets you move to permanent coverage without a new medical exam, as long as you act within a set window. The rules vary by carrier, so we check the conversion terms before you choose a policy.
How much coverage do I actually need?
Ten times your income is a common starting point, but it is only a starting point. We build the figure from your debts, your mortgage balance, your children's ages and what your family would need each year. Some clients need more than the rule of thumb and some need less.
Is the life insurance from my employer enough?
For most families it is not. Group coverage tends to be small, and it often ends when you leave the job. A personal term policy stays yours wherever you work, in Allen or anywhere else.
Will the policy pay if I die in the first couple of years?
Yes, as long as the application was accurate. Most policies have a two-year contestable period, when the carrier can review the application after a claim. That is why we take care that every health answer is complete.
