Mortgage Protection Insurance in Allen
A mortgage can outlast the income that pays it. We set up life coverage matched to your balance and your remaining years, then explain who receives the money and how it can be used. The same people handle your policy from the first conversation to delivery.

What Mortgage Protection Covers, and When It Fits
Mortgage protection insurance is life coverage sized to your mortgage balance and set to last as long as the loan. If a borrower dies during that time, the policy pays so the balance can be paid off or the monthly payments continued. It is different from the private mortgage insurance a lender may require, which protects the lender. This coverage protects your family.
Most policies we set up pay a beneficiary you pick, not the bank. That gives the surviving borrower real choices: pay off the loan at once, keep making payments and save the rest, or sell when the time is right. We review each option with you before you sign.
We keep our team small on purpose. The agent who reviews your loan statement also compares your options, follows the application through underwriting and goes over the finished policy with you.

What We Handle for You
- 01
Starting from your loan statement
We begin with your balance, interest rate and last payment date, and size coverage to those numbers rather than a round figure from a mailer.
- 02
Decreasing and level coverage side by side
Decreasing coverage drops roughly along with your loan and usually costs less. Level coverage keeps its full amount for the entire term, leaving money for other bills once the mortgage is paid. We show you both together.
- 03
Riders priced separately
Some carriers offer riders that pay if you become disabled or receive a serious illness diagnosis, and a few return your premiums if you outlive the term. We explain the cost of each and tell you plainly when one is not worth it.
- 04
Protection for both borrowers
When two people are on the loan, we review separate policies and joint options so neither one is left uncovered.
- 05
Setting up and checking beneficiaries
We confirm who gets the benefit and how it is paid, and we make sure it works with any term life or whole life coverage you already have.

Offers started arriving after closing
Because new mortgages are public record, offers usually show up within weeks of closing, and many are one-size-fits-all. A brief conversation helps you separate what is useful from what is padded.
One income pays the mortgage
If most of the payment depends on one earner, losing that paycheck would squeeze the budget quickly. This is where coverage matters most.
Work is your only source of coverage
Employer coverage is usually tied to the job, so a job change or layoff can end it. The amount is based on salary, not on what remains on your loan.
You refinanced or bought a bigger home
A new loan typically brings a new balance and payoff date. Coverage chosen for the old mortgage may now fall short or end too early.
Your current policy ends before the mortgage
If your term expires years before the last mortgage payment, that gap is worth closing while your health still earns good rates.
How We Set It Up
- 1
We talk by phone first
We ask about the loan, the people who rely on you and whatever coverage is already in place. A copy of your latest statement makes the call quicker.
- 2
Side-by-side choices
We set coverage amounts, term lengths and payout structures next to each other, with the monthly cost of each. The tradeoffs are clear before you decide.
- 3
Application and underwriting
Some policies use simplified health questions. Others call for a short paramedical exam, which can usually happen wherever is convenient for you in Allen or nearby. We keep track of the file and tell you where it stands.
- 4
Policy delivery and review
When the policy is issued, the same agent goes through it with you line by line, confirms the beneficiary and notes when to revisit it, such as after a refinance.
What Shapes the Price of Your Policy
Your premium depends on how much coverage you need, how long you need it and how the insurer views your health. We quote real options by phone so you can see how each decision affects the monthly price. Nothing gets added unless you agree.
- What you owe and how long is left
- A bigger balance or longer payoff means more coverage over more years, so the premium goes up.
- Timing and health history
- Insurers price by risk, so applying sooner and in good health usually means a lower premium. Smoking or certain conditions raise the rate or shorten the list of carriers that will offer coverage.
- Decreasing or level coverage
- Decreasing coverage usually costs less because the insurer's risk shrinks over time. Level coverage costs more but holds its full value.
- How the policy is underwritten
- No-exam policies are issued faster but often cost more than fully underwritten coverage.
- Riders you choose
- Every rider, whether for disability, critical illness or a premium refund when the term ends, has its own price. We quote each separately so you can decide what it is worth to you.
Mortgage Protection Questions We Hear Often
Is this the PMI my lender makes me carry?
No. Private mortgage insurance covers the lender if the loan defaults and pays your family nothing. Mortgage protection insurance is life coverage that pays if a borrower dies. They are separate, and one does not stand in for the other.
Does the money go to the lender or to someone I choose?
The policy decides that. Some older products pay the lender directly. The coverage we typically set up pays a beneficiary you pick, who then chooses whether to pay off the loan or use the money another way. We check how yours pays before you apply.
What if I refinance or pay off the loan early?
The policy belongs to you, not the loan, so it generally remains in force while premiums are paid. Pay the loan off early and the coverage becomes added protection for your family. If you refinance into a bigger or longer loan, call us and we will see whether the coverage still fits.
Do I need a medical exam?
It depends on which route you take. Simplified-issue policies use a health questionnaire and move more quickly, but usually cost more. Fully underwritten coverage may include a brief exam and typically comes with a lower rate. We help you balance speed and price.
Would term life do the same job?
Often the two are very similar. A regular term life insurance policy that matches your loan length can serve the same purpose and may cover more than the mortgage. We compare both so you can choose what fits, with no push toward the bigger sale.
